Jennifer L. Currao, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

Chief Human Resources Officer & Chief of Staff

AKA: The Fixer

Jen serves as Chief Human Resources Officer and Chief of Staff at Upward Health, overseeing all employee-related initiatives and leading the development of the company’s culture. She is deeply passionate about supporting people and has built her career around change management, leadership development, and creating dynamic workplace environments.

Before joining Upward Health, Jen was Chief Human Resources Officer at Gersh Management, an organization dedicated to serving individuals on the autism spectrum, where she led HR teams across multiple business units. Previously, she served as CHRO for ArroHealth, where she directed strategic and operational HR initiatives, overseeing the sourcing, hiring, and onboarding of thousands of employees during a period of rapid growth. Earlier in her career, Jen held senior HR leadership roles in the healthcare and IT sectors, including positions at Essential Enterprise Solutions, Inc. and Eclipsys. She has experience scaling startups from 15 to 350 employees, as well as transforming the culture of organizations with more than 1,500 employees.

Jen holds both the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from HRCI and the Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential. She also serves as Executive Director of the Shoulder to Shoulder Foundation and continues to act as an Executive Coach to many of her former CEOs.

When Jen isn’t busy living up to her nickname The Fixer—coaching leaders through chaos, untangling team dynamics, and turning “we’re drowning” into “we’ve got this”—she’s leaning into her lifelong loyalty to the Mets and Jets, despite their consistent efforts to test her emotional resilience. She recovers from the heartbreak of sports seasons with live music, craft beer, and an occasional attempt at paddle boarding. Her true happy place? Disney World with her family—where the only thing she doesn’t try to fix is the magic.
